Early morning blaze at St Gregory’s High School

FIREFIGHTERS from Warrington were called to St Gregory’s High School in Cromwell Avenue, Great Sankey, early today when fire broke out in a portable classroom.
The blaze involved a number of books in the classroom and two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled it using a hose reel jet.
A thermal imaging camera was used to check there were no further hotspots of fire.
In a separate incident, shortly after 2am, a fire crew from Birchwood went to Lysander Drive, Padgate to deal with a bonfire which had been left unattended. A hose reel jet was used.
