McArthur family bidding to make it a golden year!

THE McArthur family from Warrington are hoping it will be a golden year during the 50th anniversary of Formula Ford racing.

Dad Neil was joined by his sons David and Tom on the track as The British Racing & Sports Car Club (BRSCC) held their first meeting of the 2017 season at Oulton Park recently, with mum Anne providing off-track support.

All three are competing in the Avon Tyres Formula Ford 1600 Post89 2017 Championship.

The first race was going well for the McArthur’s when Tom, who was challenging for first place, spun off on The Avenue in the forth lap and was forced to retire.

Older brother David was close on his exhaust pipe at the time lying in forth position and went on the claim third place .04 sec behind second place driver Tom Bradshaw from Bolton. Dad Neil Finished in 12 place in a field of 22 cars.

This year is the Golden Jubilee of the start of Formula Ford racing and the McArthur’s are hoping that they can win the 2017 Title all competing in identical cars, van Diemem LA10’s.

This year David in car 15 has changed his cars livery to white with yellow and grey stripes, Tom (car 17) and Neil (car 16) are sporting there usual livery of black and white .
