TWO fire engines were called out to deal with a grass fire at Winwick, Warrington, believed to have been started by vandals.
The blaze in Winwick Lane involved about a quarter of-an-acre of grassland and was well alight when fire engines from Warrington and Birchwood arrived on the scene.
Two crews used beaters to put out the fire and the operation was completed in just under three hours.
Anyone with information about how the fire was started is asked to call police on 101 or, anonymously, Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

  1. surely there must be some conspiracy here? It’s a fire, can’t possibly be kids. Has to be something altogether more sinister, perhaps it was the owners and they wanted to save money on mowing 😉

    • They are mindless idiots and surely you aren’t condoning what they have done as ‘just playing like kids do ?!?’….. Not only are they damaging the landscape they are also probably destroying wildlife habitats and probably even killing some wildlife too :(….oh and depending on where/what they set fire too they could also finish up with fire spreading to nearby buildings or even hurting someone.
As a parent if I ever found out my child had acted so irresponsibly I would march them to the police station myself !!

      • Not for one minute am I condoning any form of mindless damage, wherever it may be carried out. And as for your last sentence, I’d do the same at the double.
