Plenty of live music at Lymm Festival this summer

LIVE music is always an important part of Lymm Festival and the line up for Summer 2017, running from June 22 to July 2, shows that this year is no exception.

The music gets under way on Thursday, June 22 with the ever-popular 60s tribute night from David John Dee at Lymm Hotel. “Not Fade Away” is ‘side 2’ of last year’s show and will feature hits from the biggest groups of the decade including The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Yardbirds, Cliff Richard and many more.

On Saturday 24th, LymmFest brings a variety of music around the village, all for the cost of a single wristband that gains you entrance to all four venues throughout the evening. With rock, blues, folk and indie bands playing there’s bound to be something for all tastes.

On Tuesday 27th, Lymm’s own Big Sing Choir will be “Live at The Lodge” at the Statham Lodge Hotel with guest Ian Shaw, award-winning singer/pianist with the Great American Songbook at the heart of his repertoire.

Festival Blues Night is on Saturday, July 1, featuring Mat Walklate and Paolo Fuschi at Lymm Golf Club. They play a diverse, dynamic set illustrating all shades of blues and all styles from the 1950s onwards. Promises to be a great night for all Blues fans!

If classical music is more your style, then there is still a wide selection of events to choose from. On Friday 30th, baritone Jacob Phillips and his guests will treat you to an evening recital of opera favourites and more at St Peter’s Church and there will be more choral evenings from local societies including The Lydian Singers, Lymm & District Chorus, The Bridgewater Singers and the Altèri Chamber Choir.

And finally, for something a little different, there is humour in the music of the late Jake Thackray in a tribute evening “The Lost Songs” at the Spread Eagle on Sunday, July 2.

For full details of all the music to be heard at this year’s Lymm Festival, and all the other events as well, visit their website at lymmfestival.org.uk.

Tickets will be on sale from mid-May so put the dates in your diary now then you can be at the front of the queue to make sure of yours.
