Rogue traders target woman at Culcheth

POLICE at Warrington today issued a warning about rogue traders following an incident in the Culcheth area.
A report was received about two men knocking on the door of a vulnerable woman in the village, offering to do roofing work.
A police spokesperson said: “Don’t allow in any callers who haven’t made an appointment.
“Beware of unscrupulous callers who may try to pressure you into buying. Do not fall victim to cons or scams, or let them distract you to get into your home.
“Look out for your neighbours and, if something seems wrong, contact your local trading standards office or Cheshire Police.
It is vitally important that residents do not engage in arranging work without proper contracts in place. Furthermore, we urge residents never to pay money upfront until the work is completed to their satisfaction.
“If in doubt about any callers, call Cheshire Police on 101.”
