Reminder to get your green bin licence

WARRINGTON residents are being reminded to purchase their green waste licence ahead of the new collections starting on March 6 -with 22,000 already signed up.

Warrington Borough Council’s will only empty green bins displaying a sticker to show that you have paid £30 charge.

Cllr Judith Guthrie, executive board member for environment, said: “We are delighted that 22,000 licences have already been ordered and we’re confident more people will join the scheme throughout the year.”

  1. Crikey that’s a good number of people signing up then and I must admit wasn’t expecting that many households to pay up.

    At the lesser £30 (online price) that’s £660 THOUSAND pounds the council will have received in payments for this upcoming year.

    Does that money then have to be spent on waste services or can it be spent on/put towards any other service or need that the council chooses to spent it on?

    Just out of interest does anyone know how many houses there actually are in Warrington (in total) right now ? .
