Grappers sign young Aussie star for coming season

GRAPPENHALL have signed an exciting prospect from Australia as their overseas player for their return to the Vivio Cheshire County League premier division.
Owen Lynch, 18, is a top-order batsman and off-spin bowler who has just broken into First Grade cricket with Valley Districts, Brisbane, one of the biggest clubs in Australia.
On his First Grade debut he hit an unbeaten 100 from 130 balls to really make his mark.
Last summer, Owen played for Hadleigh and Thundersley in Essex, scoring 1,096 runs at an average of 47.65, including six centuries and a top score of 121. He also took 20 wickets at an average of 20.80, with a best return of 3-1.
His career top score is 201 and he has taken 140 wickets at an average of 17.97.
Grappers’ secretary Paul Tyerman said: “Owen performed very well down in Essex last year so we are hoping he can replicate that form th is year with Grappers back in the Premier division.
“He will fit very well into our young First XI and hopefully his time in the North West will be a great experience for him.”

The season starts on April 22.
