THE line-up for this year’s Lymm Festival has been announced and promises something for everyone including a talk by former hostage Terry Waite who grew up in the area.

Running from Thursday June 22 to Sunday, July 2, the festival will be packed with music, comedy, arts, spoken word, outdoor events and plenty for children and families.

Headlining the programme is Gyles Brandreth, broadcaster and author, who will be presenting his one-man show and the comedy continues with stand-up comedian

Alex Boardman at Festival Comedy Night. Local-born humanitarian and author Terry Waite will be talking about his new book and there will be poems, storytelling and more.

The ever-popular LymmFest on Saturday, June 24 features music at four venues around the village all for one wristband entry. There will be blues, rock, folk and indie on offer so make sure that you take in some of each during the evening. There will also be some Popular Opera featuring baritone Jacob Phillips and lots more choral and orchestral music throughout the eleven day Festival period.

The Festival opens, as usual, with the FoodFest and Street Fun right in the heart of the village on Thursday, June 22 – and organisers hope that the weather is better than last year! Other favourites include a family garden party at Lymm Hall, Historic Transport Day, Open Gardens and Lymm Artists’ Exhibition.

There are some new events as well. Lymm Oughtrington Park Cricket Club is the venue for “Murder on the Terrace”, an open-air “whodunnit?” and there will be a children’s fun day with workshops and storytelling. Plus an adult author event and a children’s author event and workshop and…..and….the list goes on and on!

Full details will be appearing over the coming weeks on the Festival website at lymmfestival.org.uk as well as on Facebook and Twitter – search @LymmFestival. Sign up for the newsletter at the website www.lymmfestival.org.uk and you will be among the first to hear about all the events and details of when tickets will be going on sale.
