Two arrested after “sustained assault” in town centre

TWO men were arrested after being picked up on CCTV cameras carrying out an unprovoked attack on another man in Warrington town centre.
The alleged offence occurred at 4.30am on Wednesday, February 8 at the juncton of Bridge Street and Academy Way.
It was witnessed by a Warrington Borough Council camera operator who immediately informed police.
Door staff from a nearby premises moved in and detained the two alleged offenders until police reached the scene.
The pair were arrested and remanded in custody to in court on February 21, charged with assault.
No details have been released of the victim’s injuries but police described it as “an apparently unprovoked and particularly sustained assault.”
