Yellows draw a blank in first game of the New Year

WARRINGTON Town’s first game of 2017 ended with a goalless draw against Corby Town.

The Yellows had been without a game since the Boxing Day defeat to Ashton United, and their blank in this one stretches their winless run to three.

Striker Samuel Ilesamni had two of the best openings of the first half, forcing a save from the Corby ‘keeper and then rounding him on the stroke of half time only to be denied by a sliding defender.

Captain Ciaran Kilheeney also had a couple of chances after the break, while Ilesamni came closest when his shot came back off the post and back to a gleeful goalkeeper.

The Yellows are next in action at home to Skelmersdale next Saturday.
