WARRINGTON police have spread the net in the hunt for a man who stole £1,600 from an elderly woman after asking her to try on a coat he claimed to be buying for his mother.

Officers investigating the cruel crime have now been able to obtain further CCTV stills they believe are of the alleged offender from colleagues in Hertfordshire for an identical crime which took place on their patch last October.

The crime involved the elderly female allegedly being tricked into helping out a male who asked her to try on a coat he claimed to be buying for his own mother – during this time he, or an accomplice, is suspected of stealing her cash card which was later used to withdraw £1600 – this took place in Warrington on Tuesday December 13 2016.

Police suspect the offender on the right of the stills pictured above in Hertfordshire (the two males on the right) is the same male pictured in Warrington (the smaller images on the left) – they are alleged to have committed an identical offence in Hemel Hempstead on Wednesday 26th October 2016.

Police are urging members of the public to share the images on social media.

Anyone who can help identify these males please call 101 and quote Cheshire Crime CC16386490 – or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
