UPDATED: THE crew of an ambulance involved in a collision on the Crosfield’s roundabout at Warrington yesterday (Tuesday) received minor injuries which required hospital treatment.

The collision involved a North West Ambulance Service vehicle responding to an emergency call and a car. The driver of the car also received minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.

Eye witness reports say the ambulance had its blue lights flashing. The North West Air ambulance was called to the scene and landed on Sankey Way but was not required.

A spokesperson from the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) said: “At around 09:57am on Tuesday 27 December, an ambulance was involved in a collision with a car at the roundabout of the Junction of A57 on Liverpool Road.

“The ambulance was on its way to an emergency at the time of the collision. The ambulance crew both sustained minor injuries and were taken by another road ambulance to Warrington General Hospital. The driver of the car also sustained minor injuries but didn’t need to go to hospital.

“Unfortunately this does mean there is one less ambulance on the road responding to incidents whilst it is being repaired in the Trust’s vehicle workshop.”

The scene of the accident was captured on video from the skies by a drone being used in the area by local resident Chris Digita.
