POLICE at Warrington have issued a warning about purse thieves operating in the town centre in the final few shopping days before Christmas.
Shoppers have been advised to make sure purses and bags are secure – and to be aware of what is happening around them.
Purses and wallets should be kept safety tucked away.
It’s also the time of year when burglars are on the look-out for properties with open windows or unlocked doors
In Trafford Avenue, Bewsey, a thief got away with an HP laptop computer after gaining access through an open window. Another burglary was reported in Winsford Drive, Burtonwood.
Two 19-year-old men were arrested after a theft in Knutsford Road. One attempted to escape but was caught a short distance away.
A number of vehicles have also been entered and property stolen after doors were left unlocked.
A police spokesman said: “Cars should always be locked and, where possible, alarmed, and property should not be left on show inside the vehicle.”
Anyone who spots anything suspicious should call police on 101.
