Police hunt callous thief who targeted elderly

POLICE are seeking help from the public in tracking down a young woman alleged to have stolen a purse from an elderly woman in a Warrington supermarket.
The offence is alleged to have taken place in the Asda store at Cockhedge on Monday, October 24.
An elderly woman shopper had her purse stolen from her trolley.
Police have poured over CCTV images and have been able to get a number of stills which show the suspect.
asda-thief-2They are only blurred images, but detectives believe the suspect’s clothing is distinctive enough to allow someone to identify her.
She appears to be wearing gym gear and has her sunglasses perched on top of her head.
Police have numerous images of the suspect showing her route out of the store, into the mall and out on to Cockhedge Way. There is even one blurred image which appears to show her actually taking the purse.

A police spokesman said: “This is a crime where the most vulnerable have been targeted. We would really like your help in getting a result.”
