A helping hand for the rangers

BOROUGH Council rangers at Warrington have been getting a helping hand with some work on Risley Moss Nature Reserve.
A group of eight volunteers from the Environment Agency took part in an away day with Ranger Mark Cozens to help with scrub clearance at the site.
Lindsay Ward from the Environment Agency said:  “We had a brilliant volunteer day at Risley Moss. Mark was very passionate and knowledgeable about the site and looked after us all very well. He was a great ambassador for the ranger service.
“We will definitely be recommending doing some voluntary environmental work with the ranger service to our colleagues as a result.”
Cllr Tony Higgins, the borough council’s lead member for culture, leisure and community, said: “Our rangers do an excellent job and it’s great to see people volunteering to help out.
“Any companies with corporate social responsibility policies can contact our ranger service and help us to keep our open spaces in good shape while enjoying some fresh air and exercise.”
