Man arrested for controlling coercive behaviour on partner

WARRINGTON Police have arrested a male for an allegation that he has committed the offence of Controlling/Coercive Behaviour whilst in a long term relationship with his partner.

The arrest took place earlier today in South Warrington and is believed to be the first arrest of its kind in the area.

This a comparatively recent addition to the law which is designed to close a gap in the law around patterns of controlling or coercive behaviour in an ongoing relationship between intimate partners or family members.
