Home extension would be “overbearing” says council

STOCKTON Heath Parish Council has lodged objections to a plan to extend a semi-detached house in Alexandra Road, in the village.
Four neighbours have also objected to the proposals to erect a two-storey side and rear extension and a single storey rear extension to allow alterations to the interior of the house to provide a sitting room, kitchen/dining/living room, toilet, garage and utility room on the ground floor and four bedrooms, two with en suite facilities and a family bathroom on the first floor.
An earlier proposals was withdrawn after similar objections but most of the objectors have reaffirmed their opposition.
They claim the size of the extension is out of character with the plot, that the extension will encroach onto the rear of a house in Victoria Road and two neighbouring properties will be overshadowed.
They claim the existing pair of 1930s semi-detached houses are a great example of period and symmetrical architecture.
The parish council believes the proposals are overbearing in nature.
However, planning officers are recommending the scheme be approved.
