WARRINGTON North Labour Party have announced their candidate for the forthcoming Winwick Parish Council by-election on October 13.
The by-election was called following the departure of an Independent parish councillor last month, who resigned just 3 months after she was elected in May.
Burtonwood and Winwick Councillor Cathy Mitchell, who is also the Chair of the Winwick Carnival Committee and a former barrister, will contest the vacancy for the Labour Party.
Councillor Mitchell said:“I am proud to represent Winwick at the Town Hall, and would be honoured if residents gave me the opportunity to be their voice on the Parish Council too.
“If I am elected, I will make sure residents throughout Winwick have a strong, committed representative on the Parish Council to take forward Labour’s commitments. Whether it is issues such as traffic calming and road safety, or significant planning applications like Peel Hall, I will make sure that Winwick’s voice is heard.
“At this by-election, I will also be putting my commitment to securing the future of Winwick Carnival front and centre – I’m delighted to be Chair of the Carnival Committee, and it is important that this staple event remains on the village’s calendar for many years to come.”
A spokesperson from Warrington North Labour Party said:“Cathy has a strong track record of representing people in Winwick. Since her election, she has been a tireless advocate for people throughout the communities she represents. She will be a sound choice for local people at this important by-election on October 13th.”
Poll cards will be issued by Winwick Parish Council.
