Triathlon event to celebrate Warrington Festival

FOLLOWING on from the great success of the 2015 Go Tri series, two Go Tri triathlon events will be held at Orford Park in the coming weeks as part of this year’s Warrington Festival.

Go Tri is a multi-sport event which celebrates running, cycling and swimming and is a fun way to access triathlon for the first time, with manageable distances that have been purpose-designed for beginners.

On Friday 30 September, schools who are part of LiveWire’s PE and School Sports Programme will take part in a 25m swim, 800m ride and 400m run at Orford Park in the first school’s Go Tri event.

Another event will be held on Saturday 1 October at Orford Park for all residents with a 4km run and 8km cycle followed by another 4km run and 10 lengths of the 25m pool.

Last year, LiveWire hosted a number of successful Go Tri events at its leisure sites across Warrington with more than 200 people taking part.

Louise Shannon, health and inclusive officer at LiveWire, said: “This event is aimed at entry level and the aim is to provide a welcoming, friendly introduction to this concept of the fastest growing sport in the UK.

“Anyone can take part and this event is not exclusively for LiveWire members.”

If you’d like to volunteer at the event, please contact Louise Shannon on 01925 624996 or [email protected]
