LATCHFORD ALBION 52 HINDPOOL TIGERS 24
LATCHFORD Albion closed in on promotion with a comprehensive victory against Cumbrian side Hindpool Tigers at the Victoria Park Arena.
Albion started well and a Dave Levenson try, converted by Connor Muir (pictured), opened the scoring in the opening minutes. Hindpool did level shortly after but the rest of the first half belonged to the hosts who began to take control of the game.
Impressive debutant Owen Nugent showed great skill and composure to kick and regather a loose ball to race 60 years to score. Levenson crossed again before a great team try, started and finished by Muir, extend the lead with Muir adding two conversions to leave Latchford leading 22-6 at half time.
The first try of the second half was to be crucial and fortunately for Latchford it came their way when Danny Brown dummied his way over. Two tries in three minutes followed from Joe Clarke and Nugent’s second allowed Albion to reach the 40 point mark.
Credit to the visitors who fought their way back into the game with two quick scores however Clarke barged his way over out wide and with time running out Muir’s conversion gave him a 24 point haul from the game.
This Saturday Latchford host Chorley Panthers where a victory could be enough to secure promotion to the premier division. Kick-off 2.30pm.
