The wettest Saturday of the summer?

0

SATURDAY’S persistent rain wiped out all cricket involving Warrington clubs – the first time this has happened even in this disappointing summer.
The wash-out left buoyant Grappenhall still poised three points behind leaders Didsbury in the Vivio Cheshire County League first division and struggling Warrington  18 points clear of the relegation zone.
Grappenhall are due to play fourth placed Weaverham at Broad Lane this coming Saturday while Warrington will travel to ninth placed Oxton.
Grappers would be promoted to the premier division even if they finished second, but there is an appetite at Broad Lane for being promoted as champions so, with only two games to play, a lot will depend on Saturday’s game.
All Cheshire League and Cheshire Alliance games involving Warrington’s smaller clubs were washed out and, indeed, only two games at any level were played across the whole of the county.
