Flats evacuated as early morning fire breaks out

A FOUR-storey block of flats was evacuated at Warrington this morning after fire broke out in a flat on the second floor.
An investigation has now started into the blaze at Greenings Court, off Battersby Lane,  which broke out shortly after 6am.
Fire engines from Warrington, Stockton Heath and Widnes were involved in the operation – five appliances in all.
Firefighters, six wearing breathing apparatus, brought the blaze under control using hose reel jets.
A ventilation unit was used to cle3ar smoke from the building and adjoining flats were checks for signs of fire spread.
The cause of the outbreak is being investigated jointly by the police and fire service.
Everyone in the building was accounted for and there are no reports of casualties. Firefighters are still at the scene.
