Ann starts new job – and takes on a marathon challenge

NOT too many people start a new job – and on the first day take on the challenge of running a half marathon.
But that is what Ann Snagg, of Stretton, did when she joined the team at the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace in Warrington.
Ann is the newly appointed project engagement manager at the Peace Centre  and is to run the English Half Marathon to raise funds for the charity.
Her role will be to help manage the increased workload at the Peace Centre arising from expanding from covering three geographical areas to nine, spanning the entire North of England.
Ann will be responsible for building the Foundation’s reputation and relationships in cities such as Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool, Bradford and Sheffield and across major counties and areas such as Kirklees, Calderdale and East Lancashire.
But she is also looking to bring in the funds to support the vital work of the Foundation by taking on the English Half Marathon to be staged in the town on Sunday, September 18.
Ann, 59, lives in Stretton, is married with three children, Bernie, Anthony and Martin, and is not the first family member to be active at the Peace Centre.  Her mum Renee, holds the record as the longest serving volunteer there.
Chief executive Nick Taylor said:  “I am delighted that Ann has joined our team and I know she is going to be making a real impact across the North of England as we increase the coverage of what we do and seek to build relationships and manage our reputation as we do so.
“I am also very grateful that Ann is already out raising vital funds for us and I know what it is like to run the half- marathon distance, so will be cheering her on.”
Ann said: “I have raised funds for the Peace Centre before, and through my mum’s involvement and knowing what they do, I have always wanted to be more involved.
“I am so pleased to be able to take up this position and I am looking forward to getting out and about to promote the Foundation, and of course, not forgetting to fit in the last few weeks of training before I undertake the half marathon.”
Ann is looking for sponsors to support her and donations can be pledged online at www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/ann-snagg or by contacting [email protected]
