WARRINGTON is the 18th best place in the UK to earn a living, according to a study by TotallyMoney.com.

The north west boasts three of the top five places (Burnley, Wigan and Blackburn), while Warrington comes above Liverpool (27th) and Manchester (32nd).

The study looked at criteria such as employment rates, average wages and cost of living to find the best places to live in the UK from a financial perspective.

Wigan was found as the cheapest place to live in the UK, with London, unsurprisingly, as the most expensive.
In Warrington, the median monthly take-home salary is £1,762, with the average monthly mortgage repayment at £824.

There is 4% unemployment and 2% job growth, with Warrington ranking 14th out of the 57 towns/cities profiled in terms of job market health.

TotallyMoney.com Head of Brand and Communications, Joe Gardiner, said: “While scenery, shopping and a nice local pub are all important, people will always want to live in areas where they can be financially secure.

“This research shows us the true financial-health of an area, and that a town which offers high-paying jobs and expensive restaurants won’t necessarily be the best place to make a living.

“Here at TotallyMoney.com we are committed to making consumer credit fairer. We hope this research will allow people to make more informed decisions when looking for somewhere to live and allow them to take steps towards improving their financial situation.”
