Second chance for controversial home extension

PLANNING chiefs will take a second look at a controversial plan to extend a detached house at Culcheth this week.
Members of Warrington Borough Council’s development management committee put off a decision on the proposals at a house in Mitton Close at their last meeting to allow time for a site visit.
Objections have been lodged by two neighbour and by Culcheth and Glazebury parish councillor Jacqui Johnson
The proposed two storey extensions would allow the creation of an enlarged lounge and extended third bedroom at the front and an enlarged lounge/kitchen/ding room and extended second bedroom at the rear.  Officers have recommended the scheme be approved.
Neighbours say the extensions would be “dominant and intrusive” and result in a loss of privacy. Cllr Johnson says the massing, roofline and closeness of the rear extension would have an unacceptable impact on neighbours on both sides of the house.
