Latchford falter in promotion push

FOLLY LANE 27 LATCHFORD ALBION 8

LATCHFORD faltered in their promotion push with an ill disciplined display which ultimately cost them any chance of victory.
But they opened the scoring when wing Carwyn Chamberlain showed great awareness to intercept a Folly Lane pass to race 70 metres to score.
However the hosts hit back with a try when a scoot from dummy half caught the Albion defence napping.
Following back-to-back penalties Folly were soon back on the Latchford line and they made possession count with a try out wide which was also converted.
Latchford were reduced to 12 men when Liam Kennedy was sin binned after the referee’s patience wore thin, but it was Albion next to score when Connor Muir (pictured) and Chris Ashbrook combined to feed Chamberlain who showed great strength to hold off two defenders and squeeze in at the corner.
It was Folly Lane 10, Latchford 8 at the interval, but the hosts came out fired up in the second half and were rewarded with an unconverted try to extend their lead.
Latchford were still in the game and had enough territory but could not come up with the final play to cross the hosts’ line.
With an hour gone Folly dropped a goal to open a two score lead and when Liam Kennedy was harshly sin binned for a second time, a tiring Latchford side conceded two late scores to give the scoreline a flattering look about it.
This Saturday Latchford travel to league Leaders Orrell St James for a crunch match in the race for the
league title.
