THE historic, original goalposts from Warrington’s Wilderspool Stadium will be displayed on a traffic roundabout if planning chiefs give their approval this week.
Members of the borough council’s development management committee will be asked to approve the plan on Wednesday.
The goalposts would be displayed on the Brian Bevan Island at the intersection of Chester Road, Wilderspool Causeway and Park Boulevard.
The statue of the Rugby League legend was originally on the island but was later to moved to the Halliwell Jones Stadium but people have continued to refer to it as the “Brian Bevan Island.”
Erecting the goalposts on the island would retain the Rugby League connection with the site.
Officers are recommending the plan be approved.
