Birchwood firm provides support for proposed nuclear power station

A FIRM with offices in Birchwood have been awarded a continuation of a contract to provide support for a proposed nuclear power station at Moorside in Cumbria.

Amec Foster Wheeler will provide environmental support to NuGeneration Limited and enable them to make the appropriate development applications.

In fulfilling its role at Moorside, Amec Foster Wheeler’s environmental and radiological experts have utilised vast experience in areas such as ecology, hydrogeology, hydrology, radiological assessment, air quality and noise and vibration. 

Rob Brown, Managing Director of Amec Foster Wheeler’s Environment and Infrastructure business in Europe, said: “Amec Foster Wheeler is the leading provider of environmental support to Moorside, this nationally significant infrastructure project.

“We are delighted to be developing a long-term partnership with NuGen, providing quality, time-critical environmental deliverables, and enhancing our position as a leading player in the UK nuclear new build programme.”

Over the last 10 years the Amec Foster Wheeler team has helped clients assess the impacts of proposed nuclear new builds at Hinkley Point, Sizewell, Wylfa and Moorside. Amec Foster Wheeler continues to grow its team of experts to further support UK and international nuclear new build projects.
