Seven weeks of road closures while major work carried out

MAJOR structural maintenance work on one of Warrington’s busiest main roads will require road and lane closures for a period of seven weeks.

Traffic hold-ups will be inevitable during the work on in inbound/westbound Knutsford Road between Halla Way and Wilderspool Causeway.

Work is due start on September 19  between 9.30am and 3.30pm and between 7pm and midnight . It will be carried out in three phases.

Phase 1 will Knutsford Road westbound from Park Avenue to Halla Way and eastbound from Wilderspool Causeway to School Street.

The second phase will involved Knutsford Road westbound from Carol Street to Wilderspool Causeway.

Phase 3 will involve Carol Street from Knutsford Road to Slater Street.

A signposted diversion route for westbound traffic will be A5061 Knutsford Road, Thelwall Lane, A50 Kingsway South, Knutsford North, A57 Manchester Road, A49 Brick Street, Fennell Street and Mersey Street.

Road closures for inward/westbound traffic will take place between 7pm and midnight and lanes will also be closed during the day between 9.30am and 3.30pm when required. Access for outward/eastbound traffic will be maintained at all times and all roads will be fully open to traffic outside working times.

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times during the works and vehicle access will be under the control of the contractors.
