Travellers will be ordered to leave Warrington park

UPDATED: A TRAVELLERS encampment which arrived in Warrington over night, on park land off Wilderspool Causeway, will be issued with a notice to quit the site within 24 hours.

A total of seven caravans arrived on the park land behind Manx Road and Old River Road off Wilderspool Causeway.

A council spokesperson said: “Our officers have carried out  statutory welfare checks and there were no welfare issues. The group will be issued with a notice requiring them to leave within 24 hours.”

  1. Saw 3 large van with caravans cut across the traffic at st james church then mount the kerb and drive across the grass in front of the flats on bevan island with total disregard then continue on to the field behind so once again our council will be left to clear up the mess

  2. I saw them there a couple of hours ago but there looked more vans than are shown in the photo, I counted about 10 all very nice and expensive looking vans and vehicles. You can see the tyre tracks where some of them must have gone straight over the grass verge from Brian Bevan island and then along the bottom through the gated field entrance,
    I feel sorry for the residents as they are virtually camped at the bottom of their gardens.
    With 24 hours notice to leave I wonder where they will go next…..
