Planners resolve dispute over garden fence

A LENGTHY planning dispute over fencing along the boundary of a detached bungalow at Culcheth has finally been resolved.
Members of Warrington Borough Council’s development management committee has agreed to allow the fence to remain in place at the junction of Birchall Avenue and Common Lane after the applicant agreed to reduce the height of part of the fence.
The committee had twice deferred a decision on the retrospective application which had resulted in objections from two nearby residents and from Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council. Members had also visited the site.
Originally the plan had been reject because of the “stark” appearance of the fencing when compared with the “leafy” appearance of the rest of the road.  But in addition to reducing the height of the fence, the applicants have also agreed to “soften” it appearance by providing cladding and landscaping.
