Travellers arrive at Alban Retail Park

UPDATED: TRAVELLERS have arrived on private land at Alban Retail Park on Winwick Road today as a group at Risley have been served with a 24 hour notice to vacate.

The council has now served the travellers at Silver Lane, Risley to vacate the site within the next 24 hours following a welfare site visit.

A Warrington Borough Council spokesperson said: “Our gypsy and traveller liaison officers visited the Silver Lane site today to carry out welfare checks and a notice has now been served to vacate the site.

“There is another encampment at Alban Retail Park which is on private land. We are also due to visit that site today.”

Once welfare checks have been carried out the council is expected to serve section 77 notices to move the travellers on.
