Travellers back at Silver Lane Risley

5

TRAVELLERS are reported to be back at the Silver Lane site in Risley, Warrington, just two weeks after being moved on from the area by the borough council and police.

Local parish councillor Sue Bland says she has reported them to police who are at the scene. Several vehicles have arrived at the site but the barrier is still believed to be intact.suebland.jpg

Cllr Bland said: “How many times will they keep getting away with using this site?

“It is so wrong that they keep getting away with it causing damage and leaving litter with the public picking up the bill.”

She added: “Where is the official travellers site for Warrington. The borough have looked into it. A short list was drawn up.Then there was a leak about the possible site – then all the objections and now nothing since.!

The travellers were moved on by the borough council and police two weeks ago – with further traveller problems at Dakota Park, Great Sankey, Woolston Park and Winwick Park.

  1. We believe they may have my stolen van, if anyone see them could you please take a pic so I could see if it is this group that has my husbands beloved van! Thanks email me at [email protected] it’s a transit van but we would recognise it.

  2. I presume you have already informed the police of your suspicions and given a description on your van and any identifying marks, scratches, bumps or anything it might have if you have reason to believe it may now be part of their convoy. If by chance yours is there they will have probably moved on in a day or so. Best left to the police rather than asking people to look and take photo’s if they are near there as it might no go down too well with the traveler group if they are spotted.

  3. Clr Sue Bland questions ‘Where is the official travellers site for Warrington’ etc but does she seriously expect them all to use an official site IF one is available in the borough. If they are continually using sites like Silver Lane despite expensive barriers being put in place to try and stop then they are clearly just giving a two fingers up to everyone and I doubt they will all use sites they have to PAY for. It’s not like the official site suggested will only cost a small amount eiterh…£2 million had been put aside for it last time I read. That’s one heck of a lot of money just for a temporary stop off !!

  4. So much for the benefits of WBC’s “common sense approach….in a proportionate and timely manner” with which Helen Jones and the rest of us were told the last travellers’ visit (a few weeks ago) would be speedily resolved.

  5. I was under the impression that they had been ordered to leave by 1pm today but at 8pm they are still on Silver lane, so much for officials and law enforcement? I’m sure if I stayed in a caravan on Silver lane I would have been arrested.!
