WARRINGTON Town Hall will be flying the Union flag at half-mast this weekend, in remembrance of Labour MP Jo Cox.
Mrs Cox (pictured), MP for Batley and Spen, died after being shot and stabbed, following a constituency meeting in West Yorkshire.
The flag will be flown from this evening (Friday) until Monday, as a mark of respect from Warrington Borough Council.
Warrington councillors will also pay tribute to Mrs Cox by observing a minute’s silence, at the start of the full council meeting at the Town Hall on Monday.
Council leader Terry O’Neill said: “The tragic killing of such a caring, passionate and dedicated MP has deeply affected us all. It is only right that we unite in solidarity to pay our respects to Jo and show that her work will not be forgotten.
“I’m sure I speak on behalf of the people of Warrington in offering our condolences to Jo’s family and friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this difficult time.”
