Woman and dog rescued from muddy riverbank

THREE fire crews helped rescue and woman and dog stuck on a muddy riverbank at Warrington, last night.

Fire engines from Stockton Heath and Warrington attended the incident on Howley Lane after reports of a dog being stuck on the riverbank.

People were trying to rescue the dog and a woman also became trapped in mud on the riverbank.  Firefighters rescued the woman, who was then handed to the care of paramedics.  The dog was rescued and handed back to its owner.
