Orford Park Festival hailed great success

ORFORD Park Festival has been hailed a great success after thousands of people turned out to enjoy the annual event.

This year’s festival had a Rio theme to celebrate the forthcoming Olympics which take place in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro in August.

The park was transformed into a colourful metropolis with families enjoying fairground rides, sports activities, dance shows and much more.

There were plenty of activities on offer including a mini train ride, mountain bike and skate park display and birds of prey.

Festival goers also had the chance to try out a wide selection of food, craft and gift stalls and have a go on the climbing wall.

Younger visitors were greeted by LiveWire’s very own mascot, Jet as well as Warrington Wolves’ Wolfie with both characters taking part in a dance off during the festival.

The event, which is now in its fourth year, was organised by a group of local partners including LiveWire, Culture Warrington and Warrington Wolves Foundation and is supported by the Central Neighbourhood Board.

Emma Hutchinson, managing director of LiveWire, said: “We’re really pleased to have been involved in another Orford Park Festival. The event gives people across the town the opportunity to try their hand at a vast array of activities.

“The wet weather didn’t seem to dampen anyone’s spirits and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and got involved with all the attractions on offer.”

Cllr Mike Hannon from Orford ward, said: “This year’s Orford Park Festival was a fantastic success once again and really brought the whole community together. It was great to see so many residents enjoy all the activities on offer.

“Since its launch four years ago, the event has grown each year and is now something that people look forward to. We hope that next year’s event will attract many more local families.”
