Motorway works called off after heavy rain forecast

A FORECAST of heavy rain tomorrow night has forced Highways England to postpone work on the M6 between Lymm and Knutsford that was due to take place tomorrow (Wednesday) night.
Only a couple of hours after announcing southbound carriageway closures between Junction 20, Lymm and Junction 19, Knutsford, the agency issued another announcement postponing the work.
It is now likely to take place next week.
This is the second time work in the area – but on the northbound carriageway – has been postponed because of the weather.
However, unconnected work on repairs to southbound M6 slip roads at junction 20 for Lymm, will still go ahead.
This will require the slip roads to be closed on both Thursday and
Friday nights (June 16 and 17) between 10pm and 5am on each of the nights.
The closure will affect the main link roads from the southbound M6 onto the M56 and the slip road from the roundabout at Lymm Services onto the link roads.
Overnight resurfacing is also due to start this week along the entry slip road for the northbound M6 at junction 22 of the motorway at Winwick.   Subject to weather conditions, this work will take place over several but not all nights between tomorrow night (Wednesday, June 15) and next Wednesday (June 22) from 10pm to 5am each night with the slip road totally closed.
In all cases, clearly-signed diversions will be in place.
