Heavy rain fall causes flooding at Lymm

0

HEAVY rainfall in the Lymm area this evening has caused localised flooding and a road closure.

Police have reported that Burford Lane Lymm, will be closed until further notice due to flooding.

With flooding reported in other parts of Cheshire, including nearby Mere, Cheshire Police have issued the following information.

Motorists are advised not to drive through flood waters. The water is often deeper than it looks and it may be moving fast. If people do need to use their cars drivers are advised to allow extra time for travelling.

People – especially children – should not attempt to walk through flooded areas. Residents in the affected areas are asked to give a thought to any elderly or disabled people living in the area.

Please make contract via telephone rather than personal visits in affected areas.

Anyone concerned about potential flooding should sign up for free flood warnings on the Environment Agency’s website, follow them on Twitter @EnvAgencyNW for the latest information or you can call the Flood Line on 0345 988 1188.
