MEMBERS of Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council and Croft Parish Council have reinforced their opposition to the controversial HS2 rail line slicing through their villages.
Councillors have attended a meeting with Culcheth and District Rail Action Group (CADRAG) to show support for their campaign against the route of the high speed line going through the villages.
Conservative councillor Keith Bland, who now sites on both parish councils,  said: “Residents through all our villages can be assured that the Conservative team will work for them all year round, so do not hesitate to contact us if you have any problems or concerns.
“Some of our councillors from both parish councils have already attended a meeting with CADRAG to show our support in their campaign to stop the proposed HS2 train route through our villages.
“We as local councillors totally oppose this route and will be pushing for the current West Coast line to be upgraded instead to carry the route from Crewe through Warrington Bank Quay and onwards along the existing line.
“We have an excellent team of councillors and we will continue to work on the issues of concern and meeting with as many residents as possible in the coming year through our monthly surgeries and Meet your Councillor Coffee mornings.’
Cllr Val Allen, Conservative, has been elected chairman of Croft Parish Council.
