Four injured in collision at Lower Whitley

FOUR people were injured in a two car collision at Lower Whitley, Warrington as one of the vehicles caught fire.

The incident occured on A533/A49 at Lower Whitley near Stretton at around 4.30pm yesterday.

Three fire engine from Warrington, Northwich and Widnes, attended the scene, with the road closed in both directions.

There were four casualties reported.

Firefighters, two wearing breathing apparatus, used a hose reel jet to put out a fire in one of the cars. The casualties were treated by ambulance personnel. Crews were at the scene for around 90 minutes.
