VANDALS are believed to have started a fire which destroyed bushes in Hawleys Lane, Warrington last night.
The blaze was tackled by firefighters using a hose reel jet and it became apparent it had been started deliberately.
Police and the fire service have appealed for information from the public.
Anyone who has any knowledge of how the fire started is asked to call police on 101 or through the anonymous Crimestoppers hotline on 0800 555 111.
A Fire Services spokesperson said: “Arson costs lives.”
In another incident, fire crews from Warrington were called to Padgate Lane to deal with a car fire. They used a hose reel jet to extinguish the blaze.
No-one was reported hurt.
