THE M6 northbound carriageway near Warrington has been re-opened after a crash involving two heavy goods vehicles earlier today.
The crash occurred between Junctions 19 and 20 and police, fire service, Highways England and North West ambulance were sent to the scene. One person was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.
Police closed the north bound carriageway and appealed to drivers to avoid the area is possible. But there was heavy traffic congestion on the motorway, with long tailbacks.
Local diversions were put in place leadikng to hold-ups on other roads.
Police say it is still advisable to avoid the area.
