Rare lambs born at Walton Zoo

ZOO ranger Peter Cookson is celebrating the birth of rare twin Herdwick lambs at Walton Gardens Children’s Zoo.

Now Peter will be inviting local school children who visit the zoo to come up with names for the lambs.

“It is rare to have twins born, and even rarer to have one which has brown wool,” said Peter.

The Herdwick Sheep are mostly found in the Lake District and provide wool used in carpets.

“If you get a Herdwick wool carpet it will generally last a lifetime,” added Peter.

A total of three lambs were born recently, including the twins and they will go on show to the public this weekend.
