FOLLOWING a tradition which can trace its roots all the way back to 1889 the incoming Lymm May and Rose Queens have been selected.

The delighted winners of this year’s positions of honour, which were chosen by lot at Lymm Methodist Church, were Eva Cope , May Queen elect and Eleanor Lawton who is the new Rose Queen elect.

Eva, aged 10, attends Cherry Tree Primary School and Eleanor is aged 9 and is a pupil at Ravenbank Primary School.

The election was performed by the outgoing queens, Rebecca Chapman (May Queen) and Elizabeth Nelson (Rose Queen). Proceedings were overseen by the Chairman of the Lymm May Queen Committee, Steve Harper.

This year’s festival takes place on Saturday, June 11.
