A SPRINKLER system prevented a serious fire at a Warrington works this afternoon.
The blaze was at business premises in Swineyard Lane, Appleton shortly before 3pm and involved an extractor fan.
Firefighters from Warrington and Stockton Heath went to the scene and use a hose reel jet to extinguish the flames. Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus fought their way through dense smoke to get to the seart of the fire.
An investigation is being carried out to establish the cause of the outbreak.
Earlier, a crew from Warrington deal with a car fire on the M62 westbound carriageway, between Junctions 10 and nine and a crew from Stockton Heath deal with a fire involving rubbish in Thelwall Lane, Latchford.
