PLANS for a 2.4 metre high security fence at the new King’s Leadership Academy currently nearing completion on land off Hillock Lane, Woolston, have been given the go ahead.
The school – currently the only Free School in the borough – is now substantially completed and staff and pupils are due to move into the building from their existing temporary accommodation in June.
The weld mesh fence – coloured “grass green” is required to secure the site and also to meet Ofsted requirements.
There will be three sets of gates in the fencing, which will be erected around the school’s perimeter.
Planning officers say the fencing will have no detrimental impact on the amenity of nearby housing.
The new building will accommodate 840 pupils – and it is claimed it is already oversubscribed.
