Woolston parish councillor Hill, who will be contesting the Rixton and Woolston ward of Warrington Borough Council on May 5, has been in touch with residents of Epping Drive, whose properties back onto Woolston Grange.

Residents have been disturbed by nesting seagulls who have taken up residence on the flat factory roofs throughout the industrial estate.

The seagulls regularly act as an unwanted alarm clock for residents – waking nearby homeowners as early as 4.00am! The chicks have also shed feathers across nearby gardens.

Councillor Hill has taken up the case with business owners and the local Council and said: “You could say that we are spitting feathers!

“I have spoken to residents in Epping Drive who are being driven to distraction by nesting seagulls. Whilst there is a funny side to this story, it is simply not amusing for residents who are being frequently woken up at 4.00am.

“I have approached Warrington Borough Council to initiate a dialogue with the owners of the businesses on the Grange. There is specialised netting which can be purchased to deter birds from nesting on flat roofs. If council officers and business owners co-operate, I am confident that we can develop a responsible plan to tackle the seagulls!”
