A 19-year-old male is helping police with their inquiries following the disappearance of 14-year-old Jade Lynch, who was found safe and well last night.

Meanwhile Cheshire Police highlighted the important contribution the public have made and thank them for their support.

Jade was found in Ashton-in-Makerfield, Greater Manchester at approximately 9.30pm yesterday, Wednesday 6th April, as a result of information received from a member of the public.

Detective Superintendent Jon Betts said: “Information from the public is vital, and throughout this investigation the support that we have received from the public has been outstanding.

“Print, broadcast and social media have proved instrumental in getting the information out to the public which has resulted in the support we have had.

“Now that Jade has been located I would ask that the privacy of Jade and her family is respected. We are currently working closely with our partners to support Jade at this difficult time.”

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Jade’s disappearance is currently ongoing, and a 19-year-old man is helping officers with their enquiries.

DS Betts added: “Since Jade’s return, we have noticed a number of negative comments on social media sites. Inappropriate and upsetting comments do not help the investigation, and simply cause further upset and distress for Jade and her family.

“We would like to remind everyone that Jade is a vulnerable teenager and throughout our investigation our aim has been for her safe return.”

Police & Crime Commissioner for Cheshire John Dwyer said: “It has been heartening to see all of the support given by the public and this case shows the power of the people.

“I would also like to personally thank all of the officers and staff who have worked tremendously hard throughout the investigation, which has resulted in her safe return.”
