Emotional concert celebrates lives of Viola Beach

FAMILY, friends and fans of Warrington Indie band Viola Beach attended an emotional concert celebrating the lives of the five young men who tragically died in Sweden at the town’s Parr Hall last night.

The show which sold out in less than a week at the venue the band had always wanted to play at, featured a line-up of friends, bands they’ve played with, influences and peers from across the country.

Performers included The Coral and Liam Fray alongside an acoustic set from The Kooks. Special guests were Blossoms, Eliza and the Bear, Hidden Charms, The Vryll Society, The Strawberries and Psyblings.

There were “Incredible scenes” as Hidden Charms brought on their surprise guests on to stage… The Zutons!

The band members Kris Leonard, River Reeves, Tomas Lowe, Jack Dakin and their manager Craig Tarry were all killed following a tragic crash in Sweden during the early hours of February 13th after their first concert abroad.

All proceeds from the show will go to all their families.

A spokesperson from the venue posted on facebook: “Think we did them proud tonight. Thanks to the families, the bands, the staff and those who came to celebrate with us. It really was a night to remember and all for five remarkable men – Craig, River, Kris, Tomas, and Jack.

“Goodnight and God bless.”

Meanwhile a fund-raising campaign has been started to create a lasting meorial to the band members and their manager in Warrington town centre.
