Woman, 84, dies after Chester Road crash

AN 84-year-old woman involved in a serious collision on Chester Road, Warrington, last night, has sadly died in hospital.

The road was closed in both directions after the woman’s vehicle ended up on its roof following a collision at 6.30pm on Wednesday March 30.

The woman was treated by paramedics at the scene before being airlifted to Wythenshawe Hospital but later died. It is suspected she had a “medical episode at the wheel.”

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “At 6:33pm on Wednesday, March 30, police were called to Chester Road in Warrington following a collision involving two cars.

“A Nissan Micra was in a collision with a Ford Fiesta.

“The driver of a Nissan Micra, an 84-year-old local woman was taken to Wythenshawe Hospital.

“She sadly died that evening.

“It is thought she may have had a medical episode at the wheel.”

Firefighters from Warrington and Stockton Heath attended along with paramedics.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and anyone with information should call 101 quoting incident 711 of March 30.
